For the next edition of Six Pics, I'm diverting away from my standard Greece coverage to focus back on the lovely city I've been working in for the last couple months: Wichita, Kansas! Wichita is home to several museums - Cowtown, The Wichita Art Museum, and The Exploration Place to name a few. But my favorite has to be The Museum of World Treasures - an Indiana Jones-like collection of oddities and curios from all corners of the world.
In this Six Pics, I'm sharing six of my favorites 'treasures' from a recent visit to the museum.

I've come across a few segments of the Berlin...

I sat down on the rock ledge as the keeper handed me a raisin. Feeling it's wrinkly texture in my palm, I grasped it tightly and braced myself for the onslaught. Before I could get settled, I had furry paws reaching for my hand, trying to get to the sweet, dried fruit inside. Ring Tailed Lemurs were all around me, inspecting every last detail of the hairless primate holding onto one of their favorite treats. I quickly opened my palm, exposing the raisin to the lemurs and it was snatched up.
I was somewhere I'd never been before - on the inside of an animal enclosure at a zoo. And while most...

For this week's photo essay, I want to feature some photos of where I've been working for the majority of the last month - Wichita, Kansas. Wichita is a lot of things - a metropolis, sister city of Cancun, an urban oasis on the plains, the world capital of aviation, and a cowtown. Yes, I said it, Wichita is a cowtown. But I only mean it in the most endearing way for this city that I have been pleasantly surprised by.
Wichita was founded as a stopping point for cattle drives from Texas on their way to the railroad lines. It was a town founded out of the necessity of moving cows around. A Cowtown.

My infatuation with the smoky meat started with a former boss of mine who was from Austin, Texas. He taught me all about Texas barbecue and we made a point to try every single barbecue restaurant in south Denver on our lunch breaks. Through that experience, I learned what I liked and what I didn’t like about barbecue.
Before I started traveling, my barbecue options were limited to whatever I could find in Denver. My city has some decent barbecue restaurants, but it is certainly not one of the legendary barbecue destinations such as Memphis, Texas, the Carolinas, or Kansas City. Now that...

Welcome to the next edition of The Travel Rinse Repeat Roundup from Denver, Colorado. I won't be here for long though, as I'm off to Wichita once again tomorrow. I'm getting settled in my new work location and the city has been full of surprises so far; the weather has been spectacular, the food has been good, and I've found some unique sites that you'll be hearing more about later. Today's header image is from the Wichita Cowtown Museum. Yes, Wichita embraces its Western cowtown heritage.
Aside from Cowtown, I've also been working with Tanganyika Wildlife Park to put together some material...
