Not Your Average Traveler: Singer/Songwriter Rachael Sage

I'm happy to announce the debut of a new feature here on Travel Rinse Repeat entitled Not Your Average Traveler, where I interview people outside the travel blogging realm who have made travel a priority and live a significant portion of their life on the road. For the initial edition, I interviewed Rachael Sage, an American Singer-Songwriter who has toured all over the world playing her music for fans and opening for the likes of Sarah McLachlan, Judy Collins, and Ani DiFranco. On Top of the Rock in New York City

As I mentioned in my post about Reigniting Travel Enthusiasm during my last visit to New York City, I was determined to get out and take advantage of what the city had to offer. During my last few visits, I hadn't spent much time getting out and seeing the city. I was a hypocrite; I was NOT making the most of my travel opportunities and was content to lounge at my friend's apartment instead. New York City has many world class museums - The Met, MOMA, The Guggenheim, etc. I love exploring these museums when visiting the city, however, on my last visit, I heard about an open air art "museum" that not only has amazing artwork, but is also FREE. 5 Pointz in Long Island City, Queens, is not an art museum in the traditional sense. It isn't along the legendary 'Museum Mile' on the east side of Central Park, it doesn't feature any of the Old Masters' paintings, and the exhibits are extremely temporary in nature as new artists paint over what the old artists have done. Instead, 5 Pointz...

Springtime in Central Park – A New York City Photo Essay

After my post about the New York City Easter Parade, I'm continuing with the springtime theme here at Travel Rinse Repeat. In the vein of my photo essays from Louisiana State University and the Santa Barbara Mission, this week I'm bringing you my favorite photos of Central Park. I was specifically looking for scenes that epitomized springtime in New York City - a great time to visit. Of course, the park is beautiful in any season, but it really comes to life in April and May. New Yorkers are eager to get out of the cramped apartments and offices that they've been hibernating in and flock to the park...
