When I first visited Atlanta, I was a little too hard on it. All I saw was a blighted urban core and then immense suburban sprawl in every direction. I thought the city lacked character...everything looked homogeneous, there were chain restaurants everywhere, and it seemed like going anywhere involved getting on a highway.

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of animal attractions when I travel. Whether it’s seeking out animals in their natural habitats or seeing what different zoos and aquariums around the world have to offer, I’m always intrigued when visiting these places.

CNN is the first and largest 24 hour cable news network and was founded in Atlanta, Georgia by media mogul Ted Turner. They are synonymous with cable news in America, and if you're in Atlanta, you can catch the behind-the-scenes tour at their studios. The tour provides a look at the operations inside The CNN Center including the studios and newsrooms that create the news broadcasts shown on televisions across the world.

I originally visited Atlanta (and the World of Coca-Cola) in 2006. I remember the tour being interesting and I learned a great deal about Coca-Cola in the process. However, I remember thinking that the exhibit was tired, old, and out of date. It was built in the 1980's, and it looked as though it hadn't seen and update since.
